A woman has died after she was knocked down by a lorry on a petrol station forecourt.

The 68-year-old was walking at the Tesco filling station on Lanark Road, Carluke, South Lanarkshire, at about 7.10am on Monday when she was struck by the DAF lorry.

Emergency services were called but the woman died at the scene, police said.

The 42-year-old male lorry driver was not injured but left ‘badly shaken’.

The woman’s family have been informed and a report is to be sent to the procurator fiscal.

Officers are keen to talk to four other drivers thought to have been at the petrol station at the time.

Sergeant Stewart Dyer said: ‘The crash occurred early in the morning, however the forecourt was busy with motorists heading off to their commute, so I’d be keen to speak to anyone who was there to contact police.

‘We understand from our enquiries that there were four vehicles on the forecourt at the time of the crash and I would like to trace these drivers as they may have information that could help with our enquiries.’

A WOMAN has died after she was knocked down by a lorry at a petrol station.

The 68-year-old woman was walking across the forecourt when she was struck by the HGV truck just after 7am this morning.

The vehicle was driven by a 42-year-old man who was unhurt but left badly shaken.

It comes after a a pedestrian was left seriously injured after being hit by a van[1] on the outskirts of Stirling this morning.

Sergeant Stewart Dyer is appealing for witnesses to the crash.

He said: “The crash occurred early in the morning however the forecourt was busy with motorists heading off to their commute, so I’d be keen to speak to anyone who was there to contact police.
